The KDC is thrilled to partner with Chandos and Houle to help build the groundbreaking new National Centre for Indigenous Laws at the University of Victoria.

The centre will be the first of its kind in the world. An iconic, exemplary, and Indigenous-informed facility, it will provide space appropriate for the learning and practice of Indigenous Laws, both in the Canadian Common Law and the Indigenous Legal Orders Program at UVic. The building will also include administrative, research, and gathering spaces for further programs and community events.

UVic plans all its designs around their Sustainability Action Plan, and this development’s own environmental stewardship strategy maximizes the retention of trees on the site. Where tree removal is required, UVic aims to re-use harvested timber within the building or return it to Indigenous communities, and landscaping will be restored with Indigenous plantings.

KDC’s Roundtable is very proud to report that we, alongside Houle Electric, have been awarded the Duct bank replacement scope for this project, and look forward to collaborating on additional aspects of the centre’s development.
